S&J were thrilled to represent their University at this year’s Homecoming Pageant. For those of you who don’t already know, Shir and Jamie are seniors at the University of Florida. The UF Homecoming Pageant is what kicks off Homecoming Week and it showcases involved students across campus. We don’t want to bore you with the various organizations we are apart of at UF, so we’ll skip to the fun part- the day of the event!
At 3:00p.m., S&J rushed off to the Phillips Center, UF’s largest performing arts theater. Once all of the pageant contestants had arrived, we went through an entire dress rehearsal. It included a choreographed dance which took weeks to perfect, but lucky for you there is no video proof of S&J attempting to break it down on the dance floor.
After the dress rehearsal it was beauty time! We had about 45 minutes backstage to get ready for the pageant, and even better, our own personal dressing room.
After the choreographed dance, all of the contestants lined up for the Gator Game Day portion of the show. The contestants all repped the Gator Nation colors, orange & blue, as we walked across stage and the MC’s read off our resumes and top three leadership positions on campus. This went on for quite some time because we totaled about 40 contestants, men and women combined.
GATOR GAME DAY
S&J both got their shoes from a local boutique called, Henri Girl. (If you use the code: SHIR15G you get 15% off your purchase online or in store!) Shir’s dress is also from Henri Girl. Jamie’s outfit is from a local Gainesville boutique, Blu Spero.
The next round was Formal Wear. This was our favorite part because we were able to wear beautiful gowns and feel like we were actually on a runway, even though we were just on stage in front of a couple hundred UF students.
Shir’s dress is from Nasty Gal and her shoes are from Steve Madden.
Jamie’s dress is from BCBG and her shoes are from Ralph Lauren.
S&J had so much fun dressing up for this special night and overall had an amazing experience! Now you can say that you knew us before our fame!! 😉 Although we neither of us won UF Homecoming Queen, Shir won Miss Congeniality and Crowd Favorite, which quickly became the highlight of her college career… aside from the time her and Jamie met in their freshmen dorm hall! Jamie was right by Shir’s side to cheer her on and you know she walked away with some fab pics!
