Our Current Beauty Favorites

Many of you often ask what our beauty favorites are and we’re listening! Keep reading to learn more about our daily beauty regimens.

We want to start off by thanking you all for following us for almost a whole year now! We are extremely grateful for your support and advice in launching our blog and love hearing your feedback. It has been requested that we start posting more about beauty, so here you go! This post features more skincare than makeup items, but we look forward to posting about more makeup in the future.

Jamie

My close friends know that I love to keep up with the latest and greatest beauty trends. My love for makeup started in high school when I discovered beauty tutorials by YouTube gurus like Jaclyn Hill and Chloe Morello

These days, I still check back with YouTubers to see reviews on the latest trends in makeup, but I’ve also developed my personal makeup and skin care routine and favorites. Lately, I’ve been on the search for quality products that enhance my natural features, yet don’t include nasty toxins, so that my skin stays fresh and healthy. In doing so, I’ve backed off a bit from wearing heavy makeup each day and have seen great results. As someone with dry skin, I’ve gotten really into face masks and moisturizer. Below is a list of my current skin care & beauty favorites and how I love to use them.

1. Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash

I think I’ve converted a majority of my friends to this face soap. It was initially recommended by my dermatologist because of its natural ingredients that cleanse the skin without unnecessary chemicals or added scents like most other popular drugstore brands. It’s also great as a light daily body wash. I couldn’t live without this!

2. Primally Pure Lavender + Eucalyptus Body Butter

My daily ritual always includes moisturizing my skin post-shower, which leaves my skin feeling soft and is a must for someone with dry skin. I also love smelling fresh (don’t we all!?) and adore the smell of this body butter! It feels super luxurious and creamy on the bod, but without feeling too heavy. Plus, it’s made with all organic ingredients. It’s important to know that the products that we use every day aren’t harming our skin with toxins, which makes me love this body butter even more.

3. Primally Pure Cleansing Oil (Dry + Mature Skin)

I have never been one to use oils on my skin before trying this product. For some reason, I was led to believe that they only serve to clog your pores, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Oil cleansing helps to naturally purify your pores and get rid of any build up from makeup and other impurities our skin takes in each day. Whenever I use this product before I go to bed, I wake up with dewy (in a good way), shining skin! Primally Pure also makes Cleansing Oil for those with oily or normal skin.

4. Boscia Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment

To me, there’s nothing like coming home after a long day, changing into comfy clothes and putting on a face mask (@ all of my friends who get my late night face mask snapchats). It’s important for me to take moments out of my busy week for self care and this is one way that really helps me relax. Plus, this mask is great at taking the toxins out of your skin and, for me, is a mask I can use regularly (once or twice a week). Some masks are extremely drying or harsher on your skin and not to be used as frequently, but it almost feels like I can’t use this one enough!

5. Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich

This is my go-to daily face moisturizer. From the fresh, lavender scent to the luxurious and refreshing feel, I cannot get enough of this stuff! Just like the website says, this can be worn under makeup or by itself. I mainly use this moisturizer for under makeup and during the day and Primally Pure’s Beauty Cream at night. I have fairly dry skin, so my skin just soaks this product up! For those of you who care about scents, this moisturizer definitely has a strong, but lovely, lavender scent.

6. Glossier Cloud Paint

Out with the old (powder blush), in with the new (cream blush)! I realize that this is the only true makeup product out of my favorites this month, but this is a game changer for me. I haven’t liked many cream blushes before trying this one, and now I’m hooked. I have Cloud Paint in Puff and Beam, but my favorite way to wear them is by mixing the two colors together (see swatches below). With a little foundation, mascara, brow gel, and this guy, you’re set with an amazing glow.

These past few years, I’ve been experimenting with different facial cleansers, creams, masks, and even dermatologist prescribed facial ointments. Our #wanderlust takes us on some amazing adventures, but as most of you know, flying is harsh on your skin. From trips from the University of Florida to South Florida several times a year, to spending summers interning in NYC or abroad, and even just traveling for leisure, these past few years have caused unusual skin breakouts. I’m not much of a beauty expert; I follow a pretty simple skin care routine as of not too long ago which has helped my face has clear up and begin to glow. I know that my face is doing better when the first thing my mom says over FaceTime is “Wow, your face!” So shoutout to the brands below for making my momma proud!

1. Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash

If you have sensitive skin, this will be your lifesaver. Jamie converted me to this wash and it’s been a lifesaver. It acts as an effective makeup remover too if you don’t like using face wipes.

2. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

On days when my skin isn’t doing too well, a.k.a. during that time of month, I switch off between Purpose and Cetaphil. Cetaphil was invented by a pharmacist and people with occasional acne use it to as a stronger face wash option. Some people don’t like Cetaphil, but it works for me and I enjoy alternating between the two.

3. Primally Pure Cleansing Oil (Oily + Acne-Prone Skin)

Most of us dread getting ready for bed because skincare routines can be tedious, but this cleansing oil makes me look forward to it. I have the Oil + Acne-Prone Skin oil to target my T-Zone. I love this because it detoxifies your skin without over-drying it. It’s so simple – all you do is massage a bit on your face for 60 seconds, wet a clean towel with hot water and relax with the warm towel on your face – the best part! After the towel cools, use it to wipe any excess oil off your face. You will feel so refreshed – almost as if you were in a spa, especially because it has a delicious scent.

4. Primally Pure Orange Blossom Complexion Mist

This is my staple skin “Pick Me Up”; after cleansing, putting on makeup, or really anytime that my complexion needs a little bit of a boost I’ll spray this on my face 2-3 times. I’m not the biggest fan of the Orange Blossom scent, so I’ll probably get the Rose + Mint scent next!

5. Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Sensitive Skin

I don’t moisturize my face often during the summer months because of how oily my skin gets, but I’m a fan of all Neutrogena moisturizers. This one is one of my favorites, but if you’re looking for one with SPF I also use Neutrogena Naturals cream.

Although we love sharing our recommendations with you all, it’s still very important to visit your dermatologist once or twice a year for a professional opinion on your skin. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to hear more about our beauty favorites, or if you’d like to hear more about our makeup favorites in a later post.
